PURPOSE STATEMENT
Resistance Reporter© is an independent educational web resource providing the latest in notable news and conference information on selected aspects of HIV drug resistance for physicians and other healthcare providers. The genesis of Resistance Reporter© was facilitated by a need brought to light during a survey of a group of 42 HIV specialists. That survey, "In Search of Clinical Relevance and Evidence-Based Medicine in HIV", was designed to explore how this group accessed, evaluated and applied clinical trial data to their practices. Among the many insights garnered from the survey results, a desire was identified for a "nonbiased board" that reviews new data and evaluates its strength and importance, providing it in a user-friendly format on a frequent basis. The Resistance Reporter© editorial board was formed to fulfill this need and consists of expert scientists, HIV treating clinicians and HIV community members who are committed to increasing understanding on the complex topic of HIV drug resistance. Our objective for this program is to provide our readers with select, current articles and/or presentations that are based solely on scientific quality, clinical relevance and importance.
Looking ahead, we hope to expand our scope to provide a vehicle for publication of other valuable articles addressing drug resistance issues in other disease states.
